Dermal Fillers, sometimes referred to as ‘wrinkle fillers’ or ‘injectable fillers’, are injections that have a wide range of cosmetic use.
The filler is completely compatible with the human body as it is made from hyaluronic acid – a natural substance occurring in the body which is responsible for lubricating joints and skin tissue.
Dermal Filler injections are a wonderful non-surgical alternative to cheekbone enhancement surgery.
The injection is designed to restore volume in the cheeks, cheekbones and chin that is lost with ageing, and return these areas to a higher position. This leaves the cheek area looking fuller, smoother and naturally more youthful. Augmentation of the chin is also necessary to improve facial profile in the ageing face.
We use Juvederm®, Restylane®, Teoxane® and Antitoxin® dermal fillers due to their high safety record, quality and long lasting results.
As they are made from a naturally occurring substance in the body, they are non-permanent.
Dermal fillers can be used in a variety of ways:
- Smile lines
- Lip lines
- Lip augmentation
- Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)
- Jawline definition, jowl softening
- Deep folds, wrinkles
- Cheekbone enhancement
- Sunken cheeks
- Chin remodelling
- Décolletage
- Non-surgical nose re-shaping
- Acne scarring
- Temple hollowing
- Scar improvement
- Tear troughs
- Improvement of skin hydration (Skin Boosters)
There are some benefits to having dermal filler treatments:
- Non-permanent so as you age naturally you are not going to look the same, like you are frozen in time
- The fillers we use have an over 20 year’s safety record with strong clinical evidence
- Filler treatments can provide immediate results with no scars or downtime
- Procedure is quick with minimal discomfort
- Filler treatments can be combined with Botox®, silhouette Soft for complete facial restoration

Lip fillers
As lips age, they become thinner and lose shape. To enhance lip definition we use Dermal Fillers to restore plumpness and create beautifully shaped lips. Even older patients have a subtle enhancement to the lips as they look more balanced if the rest of the face has been treated. The enhancement can specifically target many areas of the lip, including the upper and lower lips, Marionette lines and ‘Cupid’s Bow’ (the V-shaped area of the upper lip).
By targeting the problem areas of the lip that are specific to the patient, Dr Pradnya can create a very natural and subtle look that can make thin lips appear fuller, help reverse drooping corners of the mouth and create a more defined smile.
The treatment can also help stimulate collagen production, which aids the natural generation of stronger, smoother and more youthful skin.
We only use Dermal Fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm® and Teoxane® (including Volift) for lip augmentation due to their excellent safety record.
Dr Pradnya prides herself on offering pain-free lip injections. As she is a dentist she can administer dental blocks
Dr Pradnya has carried out hundreds of lip augmentation procedures and has a canny ability to create a natural enhancement so your lips will look beautiful and not overdone with ‘duck lip’.
Lip and Cheek Fillers with Dermal Fillers are effective for treating:
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Dark circles and eye bags
- Loss of volume in the cheeks
- Loss of volume in the lips
- Smoker’s lines around the lips
- Loss of volume in the chin
- Nose to mouth lines
- Marionette lines
Frequently Asked Questions
Small quantities of filler are injected into the areas where you have wrinkles, furrows or loss of volume. Our practitioners often use a micro-cannula to administer the filler. By using a cannula our patients benefit from less pain, less bruising, less swelling, less risk of complications and a smooth, natural-looking result.
The effects of a dermal filler treatment are immediate, but you may experience a small amount of swelling and/or bruising which may take a few days to subside.
As long as they are administered by a trained aesthetic practitioner who is experienced in the anatomy of the face, dermal fillers should be safe. The hyaluronic acid gel is completely natural and over time is broken down and assimilated back into the body, causing no harm to you.
All non-invasive procedures carry a small amount of risk, which is why they are only administered after a face-to-face consultation with Dr Pradnya, during which a full assessment will be carried out and a full list of cautions and contraindications discussed.
No, there are several other treatments that may be more suitable for your skin concern including wrinkle reducing injections and Ellansé®. Before you undergo any injectable treatment, you will be invited for a consultation with one of our practitioners who will analyse your skin and help you decide which treatment option is most suitable.
Dermal fillers replenish the natural collagen and hyaluronic in our skin and, in doing so, replace lost volume and plump out wrinkles, making them an ideal procedure for treating cheeks and lips.
At our clinic we believe in replacing lost volume, not adding volume that wasn’t there in the first place. You will leave the clinic looking refreshed and rejuvenated, not artificially puffed-up like some celebrities!
We use Restylane®, Perfectha®, Teoxane® and Juvederm® – All of the dermal fillers that we use have excellent safety records. Dermal fillers are temporary – this means your body should break them down over 6-12 months, so in the unlikely event you are not satisfied with the results, they are not permanent. These dermal fillers are well tolerated by most people because they are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance in our body responsible for lubricating the skin and joints.
